Army, militants exchange brief gunfire in Bandipora forests | KNO

Government forces and militants on Saturday evening exchange a brief gunfire in the forest area of Bandipora district of north Kashmir.

A police officer told  said that a group of militants army's 14 RR cordoned off Raynar forest area today evening following the suspicious movement. As such the forces launched the cordon, militants hiding in the area opened fire upon them triggering off a brief exchange of gunfire, he said. He said that there was no immediate report of any casualty on either side, The officer said that additional reinforcements of army and SOG were rushed to the area.

The officer said that the operation was so far suspended in wake of darkness. He said that it was not immediately known whether the militants managed to escape taking the advantage of darkness or are trapped in the woods.
